Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are
We Got The Move ("the Platform", "we", "us") is an online introduction service operated in the United Kingdom that connects customers with independent drivers and removal companies. For the purposes of UK data protection law — the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 — We Got The Move is the "data controller" of the personal data described in this policy.
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at privacy@wegotthemove.co.uk.
2. The Data We Collect
We only collect the data we need to run the Platform. Depending on whether you are a Customer or a Driver, this may include:
- Account details: your email address, a securely hashed password, and your phone number.
- Driver profile details: display name, base location, a short bio, areas of speciality, and an optional profile image — only if you sign up as a Driver.
- Job details: collection and delivery postcodes, item descriptions, floor levels, parking notes, and any photographs you upload to describe a job.
- Messages and bids: the content of bids, questions, answers, and reviews you submit through the Platform.
- Payment information: when you pay the £9.99 introduction fee, your card details are collected and processed directly by our payment provider, Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Referral data: if you join through a referral, we record which account referred you so referral credit can be applied.
- Technical data: basic information your browser sends automatically, such as your IP address and device type, used to keep the Platform secure and working.
3. How and Why We Use Your Data
We process your personal data only where we have a lawful basis to do so:
- To provide the service (performance of a contract): creating your account, posting and matching jobs, processing bids, taking the introduction fee, and sharing the relevant contact details between a Customer and a Driver once a bid is accepted.
- To communicate with you (legitimate interests): sending transactional emails and SMS messages — such as new job alerts to drivers, bid notifications, email verification, and password resets.
- To keep the Platform safe (legitimate interests): preventing fraud, abuse, and misuse, and enforcing our Terms.
- To meet our legal obligations: retaining records where the law requires it.
We do not sell your personal data to anyone, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
4. Sharing Details Between Customers and Drivers
The core purpose of the Platform is to make an introduction. When a Customer accepts a Driver's bid and pays the introduction fee, we share the necessary contact details (such as phone number) between those two parties so they can arrange the job directly. By using the Platform you understand and agree that this exchange is an essential part of the service.
5. The Service Providers We Use
We share limited data with trusted third parties who help us run the Platform. Each acts as our data processor and is only permitted to use your data on our instructions:
- Stripe — to process the £9.99 introduction fee securely.
- Brevo — to send our transactional emails and SMS messages.
- Our hosting provider — to store the Platform's data on secure servers located in the UK or European Economic Area.
We may also disclose data where we are required to do so by law, or to protect our rights, property, or the safety of our users.
6. How Long We Keep Your Data
We keep your personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes set out in this policy. Account and job data is retained while your account is active. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to keep certain records (for example, payment records for tax purposes).
7. Your Rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
- ask us to delete your data (the "right to erasure");
- object to or restrict how we use your data;
- request a copy of your data in a portable format; and
- withdraw any consent you have given at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@wegotthemove.co.uk. We will respond within one month.
8. Cookies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies that are essential for the Platform to work — for example, to keep you logged in and to keep your session secure. Because these cookies are essential, they do not require consent. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. You can block cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the Platform may not work properly if you do.
9. Keeping Your Data Secure
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypting passwords, securing data in transit over HTTPS, and limiting access to personal data. No online service can be completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to address any issues promptly.
10. Children
The Platform is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify registered users by email. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
12. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, you have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk. We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns first — please contact us at privacy@wegotthemove.co.uk.
